Anton Ambrož (also: Antonín Ambrož , Antal Ambrož and Germanized Anton Ambrosch ; born April 7, 1839 in Humpoletz ; † March 27, 1886 in Kraków ) was a Bohemian composer , military bandmaster and trombonist .

resume

Ambrož studied music from 1852 to 1858 with the main subjects composition, orchestral direction and trombone at the Prague Conservatory . On June 7, 1859, he began his service as Kapellmeister in the 29th Feldjäger Battalion , for which he composed his own regimental march. He remained as a conductor until December 31, 1867.

His life data are only preserved today in the books of the Military Kapellmeister Pension Association , which he joined as the founder of the association on February 1, 1861. The Czech form "Ambrož" is also used here, while "Ambrosch" is used in German sheet music editions.

Also in 1861 he married Genoveva Ludwik. The marriage had at least four sons, one of whom died at the age of five.

From January 1, 1868, he switched to the 5th Artillery Regiment as Kapellmeister. However, all chapels of the artillery were dissolved on March 1st of this year, on August 1st, 1868 he took over the "57er", where he was stationed in Pest , Vienna , Kaiserebersdorf near Vienna, Olomouc , Opava and Krakow and in Krakow until his Death remained on March 27, 1886. The majority of his compositions were written during his band mastery with the 57th Infantry Regiment.

His best known and most popular work, especially in the Czech Republic and Austria, is the Parade-Defilier-March . Interestingly, the second part of this piece also appears as the second part of the trio in the 1886 March With Sack and Pack by military bandmaster Anton Rosenkranz . The last part of the parade-defiling march also occurs in the Arthold march .
