Anton Edzardi

Anton Philipp Edzardi (born March 11, 1849 in Anklam ; † June 6, 1882 in Leipzig ) was a German Germanist with a focus on older Germanic literature.

biography

Edzardi was born the son of a grain trader and, after attending grammar school in Anklam, studied Germanic philology and comparative linguistics in Heidelberg , Leipzig and Kiel and received his doctorate in Leipzig in 1874 with a thesis on King Rother . In 1876 his habilitation took place ("Investigations into the poem of St. Oswald "). During his studies he became a member of the Allemannia Heidelberg fraternity in 1868 and of the Teutonia fraternity in Kiel in 1869 .
