Anton Hergenröder

Anton Hergenröder (born April 4, 1910 in Bamberg ; † May 18, 1995 there ) was a German local politician ( CSU ).

Life

Anton Hergenröder was a trained wholesale merchant and iron, hardware and glass wholesaler. In 1945 he was one of the founders of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria and was its chairman of the CSU district association of Upper Franconia from 1949 to 1976.

Since the end of the Second World War he was a member of the Bamberg City Council (1946–1990) and honorary mayor (Second Mayor) of Bamberg (1946–1956) as well as the city's cultural and school advisor. He was district council president of Upper Franconia (1962–1982). In 1949 and 1954 he was a member of the Federal Assembly , which elected Theodor Heuss as Federal President .

Hergenröder was involved in numerous associations. He was u. a. Chairman of the Altenburg Association in Bamberg . In Bamberg he was the initiator of the development of the adult education center, together with Peter Schneider he was involved in the reconstruction of the city theater and the establishment of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra .

For his work he was awarded the Great Golden Federal Badge of the Franconian League and the Altenburg Medal, as well as the Federal Cross of Merit and (on December 7, 1964) the Bavarian Order of Merit .

In 1965 he was appointed Knight of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Eugène Cardinal Tisserant and invested in Munich on May 1, 1965 by Lorenz Cardinal Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . Most recently he was a Grand Officer of the Knightly Order.

His grave is in the 1st section of the Gönningerkapelle of the main cemetery in Bamberg.
