Anton Johann Lipowsky (also Anton Lipowsky ; born November 28, 1723 in St. Martin im Innkreis , † October 19, 1780 in Munich ) was a German lawyer and historian .

Life

Lipowsky came from the Bohemian noble family Lipowsky von Lipowitz . The grandfather Augustin was the lordly administrator in Bohemia, the father Wenzel moved to Bavaria and entered the service of Count Tattenbach as an economic administrator. Anton received his early education in Kuttenberg and from 1737 studied first in Passau . He moved to the University of Salzburg , where he studied philosophy and law, and in 1746 finally to the University of Ingolstadt . In Ingolstadt, he received a licentiate in law.

After completing his studies, Lipowsky became the secretary of the head stable master, Count Tattenbach . In 1756 he was appointed secretary at the Electoral Spiritual Council in Munich. In 1758 he married Adelheid von Geretshofen, with whom he had three sons and six daughters. In 1759 he was one of the founding members of the historical class of the Churbairische Academy of Sciences . From 1771 to 1776 he was their class secretary. He received a medal from the academy for his work. In 1780, shortly before his death, he was appointed to the electoral state government council. He did not live to see his inauguration.

Through his brother, the composer and cameraman Thaddäus Ferdinand Lipowsky , Anton Johann Lipowsky was an uncle of Felix Joseph von Lipowsky .
