Anton Levin von Wintheim (also: Antonius Levinus , ab or a Windheimb or Wintheimb ) (* 1642 (baptized July 12, 1642) in Hanover ; † (buried) January 26, 1702 ibid) was a German lawyer and mayor .

Life

Anton Levin von Wintheim came from the old patrician and merchant family of those von Wintheim . Born in the midst of the turmoil of the Thirty Years' War , he studied from 1660 at the University of Helmstedt and at the University of Jena .

In 1684, von Wintheim was elected mayor of the city of Hanover and held this position until his death. He was one of the three councilors who remained in office during the enforced reform of the city ​​constitution of 1699.

Honors

Windheimstrasse, which was laid out in 1914 in the Linden-Nord district , was named after the council family.
