Antonio Benedetto Antonucci
Antonio Benedetto Antonucci (born September 17, 1798 in Subiaco , † January 29, 1879 in Ancona ) was a cardinal of the Roman Church .
Life
On September 22nd, 1821 Antonucci was ordained a priest and was then professor of civil and criminal law in Rome . He belonged to papal diplomacy and was initially active in the Kingdom of the Netherlands from 1829 to 1840 . From 1840 he was Bishop of Montefeltro . The then Cardinal Secretary of State , Luigi Lambruschini , donated him the episcopal ordination on July 18, 1841. In 1842 Antonucci became Bishop of Ferentino .
From 1844 to 1851 Antonucci was Apostolic Nuncio to the Kingdom of Sardinia . From 1851 to 1879 he was Archbishop of Ancona . He was in the consistory of March 15, 1858 by Pope Pius IX. elevated to cardinal and shortly thereafter installed as cardinal priest of the titular church Santi Silvestro e Martino ai Monti . Cardinal Antonucci attended the conclave of 1878 that Pope Leo XIII. chose.
