Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a table vinegar made from apple cider . The fermentation of this alcoholic base produces vinegar .

As a food, apple cider vinegar is used because of its taste as a seasoning for raw vegetables - salads , fish and poultry dishes and as a natural preservative . It also serves as a basis for fruit spritzers, lemonades and adding to the drinking water for chickens and pigeons.

Fruit vinegar is named after the type of fruit used or the fruit wine that served as the starting product.

Apple cider vinegar is traditionally made from cider. Acetic acid bacteria are added to this alcoholic drink , which ferment the alcohol into acetic acid . The vitamins and minerals found in apples are retained to a much lesser extent.

In addition, further nutrients are added through fermentation . However, the vinegar variant does not come close to the nutritional content of an apple.

The following ingredients are found in apple cider vinegar:

• Potassium , Calcium , Magnesium , Sodium , Phosphorus , Chlorine and Sulfur
• Iron , fluorine , copper , manganese , silicon , zinc and boron
• Vitamins B1 , B2 and B6 , folic acid , vitamin C , vitamin E and beta-carotene (provitamin A)
• the tannic acid tannin
• Flavonoids
• amino acids
• Enzymes
• organic acids such as citric and acetic acid

Medical applications

Just like other types of vinegar, apple cider vinegar is considered a natural medicine . Areas of application are body hygiene (bath and hair washing) and oral hygiene . Used internally are "vinegar drunkenness" purification and detoxification effect of the body and even for weight loss help. When used externally, a cure for acne , psoriasis , athlete's foot or skin injuries is promised. With the exception of the antibacterial effect, there is no scientific evidence for the health effects of apple cider vinegar and other types of vinegar mentioned .

More precise (serious) studies on weight loss do not exist, but there are conceivable mechanisms of action how apple cider vinegar can satiate. The acid stimulates the production of cholecystokinin in the duodenum , acid inhibits amylase , which lowers the glycemic index , and the minerals decrease appetite due to malnutrition. In addition, foods rich in potassium cause dehydration , which in turn can be misunderstood as weight loss. It should be noted, however, that frequent consumption of vinegar, which comes into contact with the teeth, even leads to tooth erosion .
