history

The Apostolic Vicariate Phnom-Penh was on August 30, 1850 by Pope Pius IX. Established from the cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate West Cochin as the Apostolic Vicariate Cambodia . On December 3, 1924, the Apostolic Vicariate Cambodia was founded by Pope Pius XI. in Apostolic Vicariate of Phnom Penh renamed. The Apostolic Vicariate of Phnom Penh announced on September 26, 1968 parts of its territory establishing the with the Apostolic Constitution Qui in Beati Petri erected Apostolic Prefecture of Battambang and establishing the with the Apostolic Constitution voluntate Superna erected Apostolic Prefecture of Kompong Cham- off.
