|
Appelhof is a district of the Markt Allersberg in the Middle Franconian district of Roth in Bavaria .
The place is about two kilometers southwest of Allersberg and 300 m northwest of the Rothsee . The A 9 motorway and the Nuremberg – Munich ICE line run 300 m to the east . The Kleine Roth flows past to the south and soon flows into the Rothsee. The only property is the rococo castle Appelhof.
history
The site has been known as an estate since the 15th century. In 1457 it belonged to Duke Ludwig of Bavaria , then to various Nuremberg patrician families . Today's castle was built around 1760 by the Allersberg factory owner Jacob Gilardi and served his family as a summer residence. It bears the signature of the architect Gabriel de Gabrieli ; it is not known whether he was actually the builder. In 1889 it was acquired by the pencil manufacturer Lothar von Faber and is still owned by the Faber-Castell family today .
In 1987, Appelhof had seven residents and has been uninhabited since 2011. A restoration is planned.
Appelhof was part of the Altenfelden community , which was incorporated into Allersberg as part of the municipal reform.
Attractions
The castle is registered as an architectural monument in the Bavarian list of monuments, see list of architectural monuments in Allersberg # Appelhof .
