Appenhain is a district of the community Gilserberg in the north Hessian Schwalm-Eder district . The district has less than 60 inhabitants.

Appenhain is located in the southeast of the municipality. The Hardwasser flows near the village . District road 99, which connects the neighboring towns of Sachsenhausen and Itzenhain , runs through the village .
history
In 1196, Appenhein was first mentioned as Eppenhagen in a document from the Spieskappel monastery .
The mill operation, which was finally given up in the 20th century, was important for the place for a long time. Agriculture, which was once formative, is hardly practiced anymore.
On April 1, 1972, Appenhain was incorporated into Gilserberg, which has been part of the newly formed Schwalm-Eder district since January 1, 1974 .
