Heimbach is a district of Gilserberg in the Schwalm-Eder district of Hesse and has around 100 inhabitants .

location

Heimbach is the westernmost district of Gilserberg and thus also the westernmost town in the Schwalm-Eder district. The village is located in the valley of the Heimbach stream of the same name , which rises a good 1 km northeast of the village and flows west into the Wohra . The town center is located south of the stream on the north slope of the 373 m high castle hill , on which the Heimburg (also called Raubenburg ) was located, of which only a few remains are preserved today.

The state road 3342 leads through Heimbach, which branches off from federal road 3 at the south-eastern neighboring town of Lischeid and leads to Gemünden via the north-western neighboring town of Schiffelbach . It follows the old western detour of the Sälzer Weg from Treysa to Mellnau .

Heimbach was first mentioned in a document in 1243 as Hembach . From around the middle of the 13th century, the noble family von Heimbach was based on the Heimburg ( Raubenburg ) south of the village. At the beginning of the 14th century Heimbach formed its own court in the county of Ziegenhain .
