Ardmore is a city and the seat of the county seat of Carter County in the state of Oklahoma in the United States .

Parks
Ardmore is surrounded by many lakes, including Lake Murray in Lake Murray State Park with the Tucker Tower . The park was named after the US politician William H. Murray (1869-1956).
Economy and Infrastructure
The largest employer in Ardmore is the tire manufacturer Michelin , which operates a tire manufacturing plant in Ardmore west of the city and employs almost 1,900 people there. Another major permanent establishment is the oil refinery of Valero Energy Corporation . The headquarters of IMTEC Corporation, a manufacturer of dental implants, is also located in Ardmore .

Ardmore has two local airfields, Ardmore Downtown Executive Airport , southeast of the city, and Ardmore Municipal Airport, a former military airfield of the United States Army Air Forces, northeast about 15 km outside of Ardmore. The nearest airports are Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City and Dallas / Fort Worth Airport , both around 140 km from Ardmore. A train service runs from Ardmore to Dallas Airport via the Heartland Flyer and the Trinity Railway Express . The Interstate 35 leads west of Ardmore past and leads north toward Oklahoma City and south to Dallas .
