Carolyn Warner (born August 2, 1930 in Ardmore , Oklahoma as Carolyn Rexroat ; † October 9, 2018 ) was an American business consultant, marketing consultant, businesswoman, lecturer and politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

Carolyn Rexroat, daughter of Oklahoma Senator Uriah Thomas Rexroat and his wife Mary Wilma, née Tullis, was born in Ardmore in 1930. Her childhood was overshadowed by the Great Depression and the following years by World War II .

Rexroat worked in the radio industry between 1946 and 1948, including for the radio station WKY in Oklahoma City .

In 1950 she graduated from the University of Oklahoma and then did a bachelor's degree from Stephens College. During her studies, she worked as an editorial consultant for the Phi Delta Kappa magazine .

On December 28, 1950, she married Ronald H. Warner. The couple had six children: Cathy Ann, Caron Suzanne, Steve Van, Constance Kay, Christopher John, and Christi Mary.

Warner was the political spokesman for Oklahoma Governor Roy J. Turner and two US Senators from Oklahoma Robert S. Kerr and Elmer Thomas .

Since 1953, she was Vice President and Treasurer at Warners Furniture & Interiors in Phoenix ( Arizona ).

From 1968 to 1973 she sat on the Phoenix Union District Board of Trustees.

Rexroat ran for the post of Superintendent of Public Instruction of Arizona in 1974 . She was re-elected twice in a row. She took up her post in January 1975 and held it until January 1987. During that time she was on the Arizona Board of Regents .

In 1976 she ran for a seat in the US Senate ( Class 1 ) and in 1986 for the post of Governor of Arizona.

Rexroat was the founder and president of Corporate Education Consulting, Inc. (CECi). Your company offers consulting and language seminars as well as training services with a focus on workforce / jobs, education, leadership, women's issues and public-private partnerships. Her customers include Fortune 500 companies, foundations, and numerous national associations.

She was a Congressional Appointee on the National Skill Standards Board (NSSB) and a delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business.

In 1998, she received an honorary doctorate from Northern Arizona University in recognition of her achievements in education and the community.
