Nolan D. Pulliam

Nolan D. Pulliam (born June 8, 1902 in Purdin , Missouri , † April 25, 1963 in Stockton , California ) was an American teacher, school principal, officer and politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

Not much is known about the life of Nolan D. Pulliam. He did his Bachelor of Arts in 1925 at Central College in Missouri. In the following years he moved to Arizona and settled there in Mesa ( Maricopa County ). There he taught as a high school teacher for three years. Then he became a principal at the Franklin School in Mesa. In 1932 he was elected superintendent for the Madison School District in Phoenix, Maricopa County. During these years he attended Stanford University Summer School and graduated with a Masters degree in 1932 . He served as Secretary of the Arizona Education Association from 1930 to 1932 and was named Executive Secretary in 1938. He served in this position until 1942, at which time he entered the US Army with the rank of major . After retiring from the military, he became the Arizona Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction under ED Ring . After his end of office he was his successor. He took up his post in January 1947, but only held it for nine months.

Pulliam was Superintendent of the Stockton Unified School District. He died in Stockton in 1963 of complications from a heart attack . His body was then buried there in the Casa Bonita mausoleum .
