Diane M. Douglas (* Plainfield , New Jersey ) is an American politician ( Republican Party ).

Career

Nothing is known about Diane Douglas's youth. She received an Associate Degree in Economics from Somerset County College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Rutgers University .

In the following years she worked in the accounting department of Ethicon Inc., in the accounts payable department of Polychrome Inc., in the accounting department of Century Office Products, in the finance and accounting department of Thomas & Betts Corp. and as an instructor for The Stained Glass Shop.

From 2005 to 2012 she served on the Peoria Unified School District Governing Board for two terms . During that time, she chaired it in 2008 and 2009. Douglas also served on the Site Councils of two schools in Peoria, Maricopa County: Desert Valley Elementary School and Ironwood High School. From 2009 to 2013 she was a member of the Apostle's Lutheran Church Board of Education. She also sat on the preschool board from 2012 to February 2013 .

In the elections in the fall of 2014, she ran successfully as a supporter of the Tea Party movement for the post of Superintendent of Public Instruction of Arizona . During the Republican primary, she criticized Republican incumbent John Huppenthal for promoting "Obama's invasion of our children's education." It was the main reason for running . In January 2015, she began her four-year term, from which she was replaced in January 2019 by the Democrat Kathy Hoffman .

She has a daughter.
