Arman Shetpisbayev

Arman Schäripbajuly Schetpisbajew ( Kazakh Арман Шәріпбайұлы Жетпісбаев , Russian Арман Шарипбаевич Жетписбаев ; born April 24, 1971 in Kuibyshev, Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician. He was mayor of Shymkent from February 2008 to April 2012 .

Life

Arman Shetpisbayev was born on April 24, 1971 in the village of Kuibyshev in what is now the Shambyl region. In 1993 he graduated from the Kazakh Institute of Chemical Technology in Chimkent with an engineering degree . In 200 he graduated from the Kazakh University of Economics in finance and credit.

From September 1992 to September 1998 he worked in various companies. From September 1998 to January 1999 he was director of Alatautransgas and from January to July 1999 director of Shymkentgaz. From June 1999 to April 2000 he was first deputy head of the regional department of Kazkommertsbank in Schymkent and between 2002 and 2003 head of the regional department of the bank in Qysylorda and first deputy chairman of Kazkommertsbank in Kyrgyzstan . From 2003 to 2005, Shetpisbayev was the managing director of ARNA and later chairman of the board of this company. From 2005 to 2006 he headed the Ongtüstik Special Economic Zone (kas. Оңтүстік) in Schymkent.

In 2006, Shetpisbayev switched from business to politics. From November 2006 to February 2008 he was Deputy Äkim (Governor) of the South Kazakhstan region . From February 19, 2008, he held the office of Mayor of Shymkent. On April 24, 2012, he unexpectedly resigned from his position as mayor, which led to speculation about the reason for this, as several shots were fired at Shetpizbayev's car on the evening of the previous day.

After resigning as mayor of Shymkent, he withdrew from the political scene. Together with his brother, he founded a company that was active in the oil industry in the Mangghystau area . Between December 2015 and February 2017, Shetpizbayev was the managing director of Kazatomprom and since February 16, 2017 he has been the CEO of the national Kazakh real estate fund Samruk-Kazyna.
