Armin Klein (born June 15, 1922 in Dresden ; † January 23, 2009 in Bad Homburg ) was a Hessian politician ( CDU ) and Lord Mayor of the city of Bad Homburg in front of the height.

education and profession

After his military service , Armin Klein studied law in Bonn and received his doctorate in 1950 as a Dr. Jur. After graduating, he worked as an assessor for the city of Bad Godesberg .

politics

Armin Klein was elected full-time councilor of the city of Bad Godesberg for the CDU and was responsible for the legal department in the magistrate.

On July 2, 1962, Armin Klein took up his post as Mayor of Bad Homburg as the successor to Karl Horn . He was re-elected in 1968 and 1974. Since 1979 the official title has been Lord Mayor, because Bad Homburg has met the legal requirements of a special status city since then .

At the end of the 1970s there were differences of opinion between Mayor Armin Klein and the CDU. While the CDU advocated a new building for the Kurhaus , Klein spoke out decisively against the project. The CDU therefore decided not in favor of Klein in the 1980 mayoral election, but in favor of Wolfgang Assmann's nomination . Klein then ran as a candidate for the SPD, but did not receive a majority (he received 24 votes, Wolfgang Assmann 34). His term of office therefore ended on June 30, 1980.

Awards

Armin Klein was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon, the Freiherr vom Stein plaque and the Bad Homburg plaque of honor.
