Walter Ernst Louis August Lübke (born September 10, 1861 in Berlin , † November 18, 1930 on a trip to Starnberg ) was a Prussian politician ( DVP ) and Lord Mayor of Bad Homburg in front of the height .

Walter Lübke studied political science and law in Berlin. After working as a court trainee from 1884 to 1888, he passed the Grand State Examination in 1889. He worked for the city of Hamburg for the next seven years and was then an alderman in Witten .

politics

Walter Lübke was elected mayor of Bad Homburg in 1907 without a dissenting vote. From 1909 he carried the title of Lord Mayor. As Lord Mayor, he was responsible for the areas of finance, police and spa / bath management. Until 1918 he was a member of the district council of the Obertaunuskreis and there since 1909 a member of the district committee and district deputy. From 1918 to 1920 he was a member of the Nassau municipal parliament for the Obertaunus district and a member of the finance committee there. The first democratically elected city council of Bad Homburg elected him again on April 8, 1919 as mayor. In May 1924 he resigned from this office and returned to Berlin. He died in 1930 on a vacation trip to Lake Starnberg .

Private matters and honors

Lübke married Fanny zu Reventlow in 1894 and initially supported her in her art training in Munich. They separated in 1895 and divorced in 1897. In May 2018, Bad Homburg paid tribute to the services of its former mayor by naming Walter-Lübke-Platz.
