Arne Schönbohm (born July 28, 1969 in Hamburg ) is a German manager and President of the Federal Office for Information Security .

Life

Arne Schönbohm studied international management in Dortmund , London and Taipei . He then worked for EADS from 1995 to 2008 , including as Vice President Commercial and Defense Solutions . In June 2008 he founded a consulting company called "Schönbohm Consulting". He was a board member of BSS BuCET Shared Services AG.

On February 1, 2016, Schönbohm became President of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) at the suggestion of Federal Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière . Criticism of the appointment was voiced by Konstantin von Notz ( Greens ) , for example , as Schönbohm, as chairman of the association, cooperates with companies such as " IBM , the weapons division of EADS and IT security companies such as Kaspersky ", which the BSI is supposed to control. During his tenure as President of the BSI, the authority recorded steady growth: while the BSI had 661.5 positions in 2016 when Schönbohm took office, it was 841.5 in 2017 and 939.7 in 2018. According to the federal budget, a further increase of 349.5 positions is planned for 2019.

Schönbohm is a member of the Atlantik-Brücke and the Clausewitz Society . In 2012 he was a co-founder of the Cyber ​​Security Council Germany e. V. and its chairman until 2016. As President of the BSI, Schönbohm is a member of the advisory board of the "Germany Safe on the Net" initiative, the advisory board of the Alliance for Cyber ​​Security, the advisory board of the CRISP (Center for Research in Security and Privacy of the TU Darmstadt) and the advisory board of the Stiftung Datenschutz der Federal Republic of Germany. Arne Schönbohm is the son of the former lieutenant general and state secretary in the Federal Ministry of Defense and CDU politician Jörg Schönbohm (1937–2019), who is minister in Berlin and Brandenburg . Arne Schönbohm has three children.
