Arnold Kruiswijk (born November 2, 1984 in Groningen ) is a former Dutch football player .

Career

In the club

Kruiswijk started playing football in the youth department of VV Appingedam . In 1997 he switched to the youth boarding school of FC Groningen . In the 2001/02 season he joined the FCG professional squad . In the second half of the same season he made his professional debut in the Eredivisie against Ajax Amsterdam . Over the next few years he developed into the team's top performer. On September 10, 2006, he scored the fastest own goal in the history of the Eredivisie. In the league game against Heracles Almelo , Kruiswijk defeated his own goalkeeper Bas Roorda after nine seconds with a back pass .

In the summer of 2008, the central defender signed a four-year contract with the top Belgian club RSC Anderlecht . There he completed 17 games in his first year in the First Division . With Anderlecht he was runner-up at the end of the season. After he was no longer considered in the 2009/10 season, he moved back to the Eredivisie on loan to Roda JC Kerkrade . Here the central defender was able to show himself in 17 games in the second half of the season, which ultimately led to the fact that SC Heerenveen signed him for four years for the 2010/11 season . After the contract in Heerenveen ran out, Kruiswijk moved to league rivals Vitesse Arnheim . He ended his career in Arnhem in 2019.

National team

For the U-21 European Football Championship 2006 and the U-21 European Football Championship 2007 , Kruiswijk was appointed to the U-21 squad in the Netherlands . Both times the team reached the final. In 2006 they beat Ukraine 3-0 there. A year later 4-1 against the selection of Serbia . After missing a minute at the 2006 tournament, he made three appearances in 2007. Among other things, he played the full 90 minutes in the final against the Serbs.
