Arnold Schlader

Arnold (Arno) Schlader (born May 13, 1944 in Jülich ; † June 14, 2010 ) was a German painter , ceramist and educator .

Life

Schlader attended elementary school in Jülich. He graduated from high school in Haus Overbach in 1965 . He then studied pedagogy at RWTH Aachen University until 1968 and from 1975 to 1981 the graphic examination of nature and nudes as well as designing with clay .

He was an honorary lecturer at the art academy in Heimbach (Eifel) , which he co-founded. He also taught at the Bad Reichenhall Art Academy .

Until his retirement he taught art, mathematics and technology at the secondary school in Linnich from 1968 to 2007 . He worked as a ceramist and all-round artist in his studio in Koslar , founded in 1980 , which he called de Nickel-Schuppen . There he also ran a gallery so that other artists could exhibit their works there. Schlader's clay sculptures can be found in the entire Düren district . Since 1997 he has worked closely with Otmar Alt .

He saw his most important task in introducing children and young people to art. In 2006 he received the Federal Republic of Germany's Medal of Merit for his work and initiatives .
