Armament

The Arquebuse- class was a class of French destroyers that comprised a total of twenty units. The Arquebuse class belonged to the so-called 300t class, which together with the Durandal class , the Framée class , the Rochefortais class , the Claymore class and the Branlebas class comprised 55 units.

Building history

A total of 20 Arquebuse- class ships were commissioned between 1900 and 1904 .

Machine system

The drive system of the Arquebuse class consisted of two Normand steam boilers and two triple expansion steam engines . These drove the two screws via two drive shafts. The machines performed 6,300 WPS . This enabled a speed of 28 knots (around 66 km / h) to be achieved.

Armament

The armament of the Arquebuse class consisted of a 6.5 cm model 1891 gun and six 4.7 cm Hotchniss cannons when commissioned . There were also two torpedo tubes for 38.0 cm torpedoes. In 1915, the two rear Hotchkiss guns were converted to anti-aircraft guns with the same caliber. In 1916 the 6.5 cm gun was exchanged for a 7.5 cm model 1897 gun. Furthermore, the first anti -submarine armament, a depth charge launcher for six to twelve depth charges, was installed. In 1918, some ships were also given an 8 mm machine gun for air defense. In 1919 the ineffective depth charges was removed again.
