Arthur Mentz

Arthur Mentz (* 1882 in Elbing , East Prussia ; † March 30, 1957 in Rinteln , Lower Saxony ) was a German teacher and stenographer .

Life

Arthur Mentz studied history , geography and theology at the University of Königsberg and received his doctorate in 1906 at Franz Rühl to Dr. phil.

In 1909 he became a senior teacher at the Löbenichtschen Realgymnasium and in 1921 director of the old town high school . In 1923 he was appointed senior director of the merged city ​​high school Altstadt-Kneiphof . Although he was not a member of the NSDAP , he was able to remain in this post until 1945. The first school camp near Rauschen was built on his initiative in 1925 .

Mentz was an internationally recognized writer, especially Greek, Roman and medieval shorthand . From 1938 he was the district leader of the German Stenography Association . He was involved in many committees of the Evangelical Church in East Prussia . He died as a result of an accident.
