He is also world champion on the ground , four-time European champion and two-time Russian all-around champion (2017-2018).

Life

Artur Dalaloyan started gymnastics at the age of six. At that time he was still living in Novosibirsk , but later he moved with his family to Moscow , where he started training under Aleksandr Kalinin.

Career

Juniors

In 2013, Dalaloyan won the bronze medal at the Russian Junior Championships. In the same year he took part in the high school in Brazil, where Russia won team gold. He himself won gold on the rings and on the jump, silver on the horizontal bar and bronze in the all-around competition.

At the Junior European Championships in 2014 he won the silver medal with the Russian team and qualified for the two individual finals on the vault and on the rings.

Seniors

In 2015 and 2016 he competed in the Russian championships, although he was not selected for the Russian team for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. Also in December 2016, he won gold in the all- around at the Voronin Cup .

Dalaloyan's career breakthrough came in 2017 when he became Russian all-around champion. At his first major event, the 2017 European Gymnastics Championships , he won silver in the all- around competition behind Ukrainian Oleh Vernjajew and gold on the vault in front of Marian Drăgulescu . In August of the same year he took part in the Russian Cup in Yekaterinburg , where he won gold in the team competition and took 4th place in the all- around competition behind Nikita Ignatyev . In the individual finals, he won the gold medal on vault and two silver medals on bars and on the ground.

In 2018, Dalaloyan became the first Russian all- around world champion since 1999. With a total of 87,598 he achieved exactly the same number of points as the Chinese Xiao Ruoteng and only thanks to the tie-break rule did he win the gold medal due to the better execution of his exercises. He was also successful in the individual competitions and became world champion on the ground, winning silver on vaults and bronze on bars. He was also awarded the Longines Prize for Elegance.
