location

The village is located two and a half kilometers southeast of Laugna in the valley of the Asbacher Bach. This is fed by the Asbacher Mähdergraben and Weihergraben streams coming from the east .

history

The origin of the place lies in the single farm Hagenried originally located further west by the stream. After 1280, its residents moved their residence to the current location.

In 1312 the place was first called "Hagspach". It later became Aschbach , after the stream that was then called that. The name Asbach emerged from several other spellings. In the late Middle Ages , Asbach belonged almost entirely to the Hohenreichen rule , which fell to the Duchy of Bavaria in 1768 . The St. Stephan women's monastery in Augsburg also owned the town . In 1804 Asbach was assigned to the Wertingen district court .

The church village of Asbach has belonged to the former municipality of Rieblingen since the 19th century . On April 1, 1954, it was reassigned to Osterbuch . Osterbuch and its districts were incorporated into the municipality of Laugna as part of the municipal reform on May 1, 1978.
