The Assa ( Chechen Ӏаьса-хи / Ìa'sa-hi, Ingush Эса-хий / Èsa-hij ) is a river in the North Caucasus . It rises on the northern slope of the main ridge of the Greater Caucasus in Georgia and flows through the Russian republics of Ingushetia and Chechnya . The length of the river in Georgia is 20 kilometers, in Ingushetia 91 kilometers and in Chechnya 32 kilometers.
The villages of Zeischty, Verkhny Alkun, Nizhny Alkun, Muschitschi, Galaschki, Alchasty, the stanizians Nesterovskaya and Assinovskaya, Novy Sharoi and Sakan-Yurt are located on the Assa .
