The Asse (in the upper reaches: Asse de Clumanc ) is a river in France that runs in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region . It rises in the Provençal Alps east of Digne-les-Bains , in the municipality of Tartonne , on the Crête du Pré de l'Évêque mountain range , initially drains in a southerly direction and takes in its tributaries Asse de Moriez and Asse de Blieux at Barrême . Then it turns to the northwest, later turns to the southwest and crosses the Valensole plateau . Here in some parts it also forms the northern border of the Verdon Regional Nature Park . Finally, after a total of around 76 kilometers, the Asse flows into the Durance as a left tributary at the municipal boundary of Oraison and Valensole .
