The Legislative Assembly of Tocantins , officially Portuguese Assembleia Legislativa do Estado do Tocantins (ALETO), is the supreme legislative body of the Brazilian state of Tocantins (pronunciation tokɐ̃ˈtʃɪ̃s ).

Tocantins is the youngest state. It was established by the eighth constitution in 1988 and separated from Goiás . On January 1, 1990, the government bodies were moved from Miracema do Tocantins to Palmas .

The office has been located in its own building in Palmas on Praça dos Girassóis since 1995 . The unicameral parliament consists of 24 representatives elected by proportional representation, the deputados estaduais , who are elected for four years, most recently in the parliamentary elections as part of the elections in Brazil in 2018 . Parliament's work is supported by ten standing commissions.

First elections took place on January 1, 1989 in Miracema do Tocantins. 26 MPs had been elected, the first legislative period ran from 1989 to 1990, the later governor Raimundo Nonato Pires dos Santos , known as Raimundo Boi, was elected President. The meetings took place on a provisional basis until 1995.

Currently (2019) after the parliamentary elections in Tocantins 2018 is the 9th legislative period for the period 2019 to 2023, for which Toinho Andrade , actually Antonio Andrade, of the PODE party was elected President of the Presidium, the mesa diretora , for the first biennial term.
