Astfeld is a district of Langelsheim ( Goslar district in Lower Saxony ) with 2192 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2015). It consists of the two districts Astfeld and Herzog Juliushütte (named after Julius Herzog von Braunschweig and Lüneburg ).
geography
The village is located on the northern edge of the Harz Mountains , 4 km west of Goslar . Astfeld is located in the northern Harz foreland at 220 m above sea level. NN below the Granetalsperre , the Grane runs through the village as flowing water.
history
The foundation of the place is estimated at around 1000 AD. One hypothesis is that it was a stockyard supply point for the Carolingian Kansteinburg . But the ore smelting of Rammelsberg ores around 1000 AD can also determine the origin of the establishment of the village.
Astfeld was economically shaped by the Unterharzer Berg- und Hüttenwerke, the Langelsheim chemical industry and the manor, which was run by the von Mackensen family for a long time.
The last owner of the manor from the Beyreiss family sold the property at the end of the 1940s , on whose land the Braunschweigische Siedlungsgesellschaft had parceled out small part-time agricultural and agricultural land units, mainly to refugee families, at low interest rates.
Astfeld was incorporated into the city of Langelsheim on July 1, 1972 on the occasion of the Lower Saxony regional reform.
