Wolfshagen in the Harz is a climatic health resort and district of Langelsheim in the district of Goslar , Lower Saxony .

geography

Wolfshagen is located in the north-western Upper Harz in the Harz Nature Park . It is located between the Innerste Reservoir in the west and the Granetalsperre in the east and between the towns of Seesen in the west-southwest and Goslar in the east at around 260 to 430  m above sea level. NHN . To the northeast of the town center lies the Heimberg ( 352.5  m above sea level ). The Harzer Försterstieg runs through the village . The Steinway Trail leads from Wolfshagen to Seesen.

history

Wolfshagen in the Harz was first mentioned in a document as Wulveshagen in 1316 ; the ending -hagen identifies the settlement as a place of the medieval clearing period . In 1958 there were around 2800 inhabitants in Wolfshagen, today there are around 2300.

The place was incorporated into the town of Langelsheim on the occasion of the Lower Saxony regional reform on July 1, 1972.

nature

The nature around Wolfshagen is largely intact; some of the animal and plant species found there are endemic to the Harz region. About as home to a large population of spadefoot ( Pelobates fuscus ) by the IUCN on the endangered Red List species , is performed in a disused quarry at Heimberg. Every year during the spawning season , amphibian protection measures such as toad tunnels and fences are taken to ensure the continued existence of the toad population.

Rock on the edge of the pool

The rock at the edge of the pool-Festival is a place held annually open air - Festival in Wolf Hagen in the resin . The venue is the health resort's forest swimming pool, which is adjacent to the nature reserve and biotope Diabase Quarry.

In 2017 the music festival took place for the first time over two days, including Anti-Flag from the USA and Royal Republic from Sweden in 2017 . The organizer from 2007 to 2014 was Waldfreibad Wolfshagen e. V., since 2015 the non-profit association Rock am Beckenrand eV has been organizing the rock festival.
