Atif Abaid

Atif Muhammad Abaid (also Atef Ebeid ; Arabic عاطف محمد عبيد ʿĀtif Muḥammad ʿUbayyid , Egyptian-Arabic ʿAtif Muḥammad ʿAbaid ; * April 14, 1932 in Tanta ; † September 12, 2014 ) was an Egyptian politician and Prime Minister of his country from October 5, 1999 to July 9, 2004.

Abaid was initially Minister for State Enterprises and Privatization under Kamal al-Ganzuri and replaced him as Prime Minister in 1999. In this role he headed the Abaid cabinet . His successor in office was Ahmad Nazif .

After the revolution in Egypt , on March 1, 2012, he was sentenced to ten years in prison for wasting public funds.
