Isaac, Moshe and Genovefa spent many years in exile in America. They want to travel to Poland in their old days. The married couple Mosche and Genovefa want to see their old homeland again and then return to America to die. Moshe was a plumber by trade, and his Polish wife Genofeva had never really felt at home in the US and had never learned English. The accountant Isaak is originally from Vienna and would like to stay in Poland forever and lie down there to rest forever. They come to Poland via Berlin. There Isaac falls in love with Zofia and suddenly decides to return to the USA with his new wife. Contrary to its intentions to buy Moshe and Genevieve a house in Gdansk and say their new home goodbye to forever remain in their old homeland.

The film was shown in a side series at the Cannes Film Festival in 1994 . In 1994 he was nominated for the German Film Prize in the Best Film category and received the silver award. In 1995 the script was awarded the Bavarian Film Prize.
