August Bünte
August Heinrich Diedrich Bünte (born May 1, 1836 in Balge , Nienburg an der Weser , † 1920 in Hanover ) was a conductor , royal Prussian music director and professor and composer .
Life
family
August Bünte was born as one of four sons of a teacher and cantor . One of his brothers was Wilhelm Bünte .
According to the address book of the Royal Capital and Residence City of Hanover for 1866, they lived in the city at that time
- August Bünte , teacher at the middle school, court and church singer, residing at Ernst-August-Platz 4 ;
- (Johann) Heinrich Bünte , teacher at the Citizens' School I in Burgstrasse , Burgstrasse 21 II;
- Ms. Bünte , teacher at the middle school, Friedrichstrasse 12a ;
- August Victor Bünte , timber merchant, Osterstraße 100 , I.
August Bünte married Jane Catherine Kelly and had four sons, including the pianist Charles Bünte .
Another family member was Karl August Wilhelm Bünte (born January 28, 1860), son of the teacher Heinrich Bünte and Amalie Kracke (* in Hanover).
Career
August Bünte had become a member and director of the royal palace church choir ("Hof- und Domchor") in Hanover on July 1, 1887, as well as the conductor of the Singakademie and the Neue Liedertafel. He composed sacred vocal music and published sacred chants as an editor.
In 1877 Bünte became a member of the Hanover Art Association .
In 1890 he was appointed Royal Music Director. In 1896 he received the Order of the Red Eagle IV class and in 1905 the Order of the Crown III. Class . In 1913 he was appointed royal professor.
August, like his brother Wilhelm Bünte, was buried in the Engesohde cemetery .
