August Ernst von Schöning

August Ernst von Schöning , also von Schöning-Ueckerhoff (born November 30, 1745 in Ückerhof , Pyritz district , † March 24, 1807 in Stargard in Pomerania ) was a Prussian district administrator .

Life and accomplishments

He was the eldest son of the landowner Ernst Siegmund von Schöning (* 1699; † 1778) and his wife, a born von Papstein from the Pumptow family. The von Schöning family is one of the oldest noble families in Pomerania . He initially received private tuition at home, then attended school in Berlin and then studied law at the University of Halle . In 1767 he returned home and helped his father run his estates.

In 1777 he married Friedrike Amalie von Papstein from the Blumberg family. The couple had four daughters and two sons.

In 1783, after the death of the district administrator Joachim Abraham von Oesterling, he was elected district administrator of the Pyritz district and appointed by the king. In 1804 his son August Peter von Schöning (1780-1858) succeeded him as district administrator. His family held this office almost continuously until 1875.

Schöning succeeded in increasing his property. In addition to the inherited estates Ückerhof (spelling also Ückerhoff or Ueckerhoff ), Suckow an der Plöne , Muscherin , Sallentin , Hasselbusch and Barnimscunow , he bought the Streesen estate in 1790 , which he sold back in 1795, and the Megow estate in 1797 .

August Ernst von Schöning died on March 24, 1807 in Stargard in Pomerania.
