The August Faller GmbH & Co. KG is a German manufacturer and solution provider for pharmaceutical secondary packaging with headquarters in Waldkirch . The company produces folding boxes , package inserts and adhesive labels at various European locations . as well as combination products and offers services for pharmaceutical packaging. This makes the company one of the market leaders for pharmaceutical secondary packaging in German-speaking countries.

history

Ernst Faller & Hermann Schönle (2nd generation of entrepreneurs)

The company was founded by August Faller as a lithographic printing company in 1882. Initially, letterhead, postcards and business papers were produced. The company then specialized in the manufacture of labels. In the 1930s, the company switched from lithography to offset printing and began processing cardboard. In the 1950s, under new management and with new shareholders, the production of folding boxes took place as a further branch of production alongside labels. In 1992 the company began to specialize in pharmaceutical secondary packaging. In 1999, 2000 and 2001, the production program was expanded through takeovers and thus includes three production locations in South Baden. In 2007, the subsidiary Pharma Print Design (ppd) was founded, which has been trading as August Faller Artwork Solutions GmbH since May 2016 and provides artwork , consulting and conception for pharmaceutical print data in the field of packaging and advertising material. In 2008 a packaging service center was opened in Großbeeren near Berlin. In 2012 Faller took over the Danish folding box manufacturer AC Schmidt A / S in Hvidovre , today “August Faller A / S”. In autumn 2013 the company "August Faller Sp. Z oo" opened a production facility for folding boxes in Łódź . In 2017, the subsidiary Digital Packaging Service GmbH was founded, which was renamed PackEx GmbH in January 2019. PackEx GmbH produces folding boxes in small series from 1 to 5,000 pieces.

Headquarters

The company is represented at six European locations. Folding boxes are manufactured at the headquarters in Waldkirch as well as in Hvidovre and Lodz , and in Waldkirch also combination products according to the cGMP standard. The head office is also located there.

Package inserts are produced in Binzen . Package inserts were also produced at the Großbeeren location until November 2016; production was then relocated to Binzen for economic reasons. The packaging service center in Großbeeren also has a manufacturer's license in accordance with Section 13 of the German Medicines Act (AMG). At the Schopfheim site , labels are produced using flexographic and digital printing .

Products

The company also produces combination products, such as special constructions for bottles or blisters as well as accessories such as forgery-proof features, and offers packaging services and print data management for the pharmaceutical sector.

Sustainability and social commitment

As one of the first signatories of the WIN charter of the state of Baden-Württemberg, the company is committed to sustainable management. August Faller KG is certified in accordance with the environmental standard DIN EN ISO 14001 , and the Großbeeren location also in accordance with GMP ( Good Manufacturing Practice ) guidelines. If desired, materials from FSC -certified forests can be used in product manufacture . Other certifications certified by August Faller KG include: a. DIN EN ISO 50001 , OHSAS 18001: 2007 and NLF / ILO-OSH 2001 . The company has been able to produce folding boxes using an alcohol-free printing process since 2012. In addition, the fresh water requirement for printing plate production has been reduced by 35%. The company has published an annual sustainability report since 2002 .

In the regions of the individual locations, the company is committed to club activities, learning partnerships and environmental campaigns. With nine apprenticeships and two dual study programs, it offers cross-location training. It is a member of various associations, including the trade association for industrial companies in Baden and the European Carton Makers Association .
