August Ferdinand von Brehmer

August Ferdinand von Brehmer (born November 24, 1742 in Burg near Magdeburg , † September 2, 1829 in Ratibor ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

His parents were the privy councilor Justus (Gustav) Leberecht von Brehmer and his wife Johanne Philippine, née von Stahr. Major General Johann Friedrich von Brehmer (1737–1802) was his brother.

Military career

Brehmer visited the cadet house in Berlin from November 28, 1754 and on May 25, 1757 was employed as a junior in the cuirassier regiment "von Kyaw" of the Prussian army . In the Seven Years' War he fought in the battles near Breslau , Leuthen , Hochkirch , Kay , Kunersdorf , Torgau , Reichenbach and the siege of Schweidnitz . He was shot in the arm near Torgau. During that time he was promoted to cornet on February 5, 1758 and to lieutenant on February 18, 1760. As such, Brehmer took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . By the end of October 1787 he advanced to Rittmeister and company commander . On February 5, 1791 he rose to major and was squadron chief on July 10, 1793 . As such, Brehmer fought in the campaign in Poland in 1794/95 . On 14 January 1798 he was then appointed as regimental commander, and in this position on May 27, 1799 Lieutenant Colonel and on May 26, 1801 to Colonel promoted. Due to his poor hearing, Brehmer received his resignation as major general on May 2, 1806 with a pension of 800 thalers. He died in Ratibor on September 2, 1829.

family

In 1783 Brehmer married Maria Bonn (* 1751; † 7 January 1812), widow of Heinrich Schalscha von Ehrenfeld († 6 October 1782). Their son August (* 1784) became a Prussian captain. His wife also brought a son into the marriage, who later became a judge of the higher regional court, Heinrich Schalscha von Ehrenfeld (* March 25, 1782, † March 23, 1842).
