August Ferdinand von der Schulenburg

August Ferdinand von der Schulenburg (born September 11, 1729 , † 1787 ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He came from the Black Tribe of his family, which was widespread in Prussia, and was the founder of the Priemern- Beetzendorf branch . His parents were the Prussian court and legation councilor Levin Dietrich von der Schulenburg (1678–1743) and his wife Katharine Sophie, née von der Asseburg (1686–1780) from the Meisdorf - Falkenstein family . The Prussian Minister of War Levin Rudolph von der Schulenburg (1727–1788) was his brother.

Military career

Schulenburg embarked on a military career and became an officer in the Prussian army . From 1761 he served as a major in the hussar regiment "von Belling" and was promoted to lieutenant colonel on June 2, 1774 . Schulenburg led from 1783 that bears his name Hussars. 8. On the proposal of Lieutenant General and Adjutant General von Anhalt on 6 August 1778 the Order le Pour Merite awarded . ".... to pardon the 12 officers named in the list in the army of my brother, Prince Heinrich , Liebden, because of their good behavior with the order plm ...." .

Schulenburg advanced to major general by June 1786. After his departure he managed his inherited estates Priemern, Bretsch, Dewitz and Drüsedau in the Altmark . A picture of him can be found in the Genealogical Handbook of the Nobility .

family

On August 14, 1767 he married Christiane Wilhelmine von Eimbeck (born November 11, 1741). The marriage had three children:

  • Julie Charlotte Elisabeth (* 1763; † January 23, 1814) ⚭ 1788 Karl von Kameke (1763–1842), Prussian lieutenant general
  • Heinrich Wilhelm Ferdinand (1766–1832) ⚭ Friederike Marie Pflughaupt (1765–1832)
