August Neuburger (politician)

August Neuburger (born December 22, 1902 in Baiertal ; † February 2, 1999 in Heidelberg ) was a German lawyer and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending grammar school , which he left without a degree, Neuburger, who was of the Roman Catholic faith, completed the teachers' seminar in Heidelberg and then worked as a primary school teacher in Ludwigshafen am Rhein . In 1924 he made up his Abitur and began studying law and political science at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . He financed his training as a construction worker. Since 1925 he was a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Arminia Heidelberg . After passing the Great State Examination in Law, he was admitted to the bar in Rastatt in 1931 . From 1939 to 1943 he did military service, then he worked again as a lawyer.

In 1946 Neuburger joined the government of Württemberg-Baden as a ministerial advisor . In the 1950s he became chairman of the board of directors of the Deutsche Bundespost .

In 1933, August Neuburger held a mandate as a center politician in the last state parliament of the Republic of Baden , which was already affected by the synchronization at the beginning of the Nazi era . Neuburger was a member of the German Bundestag from its first election in 1949 to 1961. As a member of parliament that was always directly elected, he represented the constituency of Bruchsal in parliament. Neuburger was chairman of the capital city committee of the Bundestag from 1949 to 1953, from 1953 to 1957 chairman of the working group “Finance and Tax Issues” of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and then chairman of the Bundestag's finance committee until he left parliament.
