August Reichensperger (zoologist)

August Carl Alexander Reichensperger (born January 8, 1878 in Koblenz , † October 31, 1962 in Bad Godesberg ) was a German zoologist and university professor .

Life

Born in Koblenz, August Reichensperger, high school graduate at the Apostelgymnasium in Cologne , then turned to studying law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin , then studying natural sciences at the Westphalian Wilhelms- University to 1905 took place in Bonn his promotion to Dr. phil. After a study trip to Naples , he completed his habilitation in Bonn in 1908 for the subjects of zoology and comparative anatomy .

In 1912 August Reichensperger took over a lectureship at the Agricultural University of Bonn-Poppelsdorf , in 1919 he followed a call to the full professorship for zoology and comparative anatomy as well as the management of the institute of the same name at the University of Freiburg , in 1928 he returned to Bonn in the same capacity, 1948 he was retired .

The research focus of August Reichensperger, grandson of the politician of the same name , concerned the echinoderms , insects and insect states . In addition, he emerged as a patron of art and homeland care.
