August von Dönhoff (officer)

August Friedrich Philipp Graf von Dönhoff (born May 22, 1763 in Königsberg , † May 7, 1838 in Friedrichstein ) was a Prussian colonel and wing adjutant , court marshal , court master .

Life

August was a member of the Prussian tribe of noble family of Dönhoff . He was a son of the Prussian Minister of War Christian von Dönhoff (1742-1803) and Charlotte Amalie Rollaz du Rosey (1742-1813), granddaughter of Imbert Rollaz du Rosey .

Dönhoff owned Friedrichstein from his father's inheritance. During his active time as an officer in the Prussian army , he took part in the coalition wars and received the order Pour le Mérite in 1808 . In 1818 he was appointed Oberhofmarschall and in 1823 Landhofmeister in the Kingdom of Prussia. Like his father, he was a member of the Freemasons 'Association and belonged to the Königsberg Freemasons' Lodge to the three crowns .

family

Dönhoff married in 1796 with Pauline Luise Amalie Countess von Lehndorff (1776–1813), daughter of Ernst Ahasverus Heinrich von Lehndorff . The marriage had ten children, including:

  • Louis (1799–1877), Prussian lieutenant general
  • Emil (1800–1877), Prussian district administrator
  • Eugen (1803–1871), Prussian Real Privy Councilor
