Auguste von Bärndorf (full name also: von Bärndorff von Bauerhorst ) (born March 11, 1823 in Berlin , † March 8, 1911 in Rome ) was a German actress .

Life

Auguste von Bärndorff grew up on his parents' estate near Berlin. At the age of 16, after checking her talent and following a letter of recommendation from the actress Charlotte von Hagn , she received acting lessons from Auguste Crelinger . In 1846 von Bärndorf made his debut as "Philippine" in "100 Years Ago" at the Royal Theater in Berlin and was then engaged in Oldenburg .

From 1848 to 1857 von Bärndorf played as an imperial court actress in Saint Petersburg , then went to Hanover in 1857 and remained there as a leading member of the court theater celebrated actress. From 1868 she only appeared sporadically, and in 1870 she took her stage farewell.

Von Bärndorf celebrated successes especially in classic lover roles, but also in comedies . She made guest appearances in Vienna and the USA . In 1881 she was made an honorary member of the Hanoverian court theater .

Auguste von Bärndorf's first marriage was a married von Schoultz and the second marriage to the Prague university professor Anton Jaksch Ritter von Wartenhorst . When he died in 1887, she initially lived in Baden-Baden and later in Rome. She is buried in the Protestant cemetery in Rome.

She also trained her niece Auguste Diacono to become an actress.
