Augusto Alves da Rocha

Augusto Alves da Rocha (born July 17, 1933 in Bertolinia , Piauí ) is a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic former bishop of Floriano .

Life

Augusto Alves da Rocha was ordained a priest on February 21, 1960 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on May 23, 1975 as the first bishop of the diocese Picos established in the previous year . The Bishop of Oeiras , Edilbert Dinkelborg OFM , donated him episcopal ordination on August 23 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Paulo Hipólito de Souza Libório , Bishop of Parnaíba , and Joaquim Rufino do Rêgo , Bishop of Quixadá .

On October 24, 2001, he was appointed Bishop of Oeiras-Floriano by Pope John Paul II . With the division of the diocese on February 27, 2008 he was appointed the first bishop of the newly established diocese of Floriano and was introduced to the office on May 18 of the same year. On March 17, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.
