Fernando Panico

Fernando Panico MSC (born January 1, 1946 in Tricase , Italy ) is an Italian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Crato .

Life

Fernando Panico joined the order of the Sacred Heart Missionaries and was ordained a priest on October 31, 1971 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Oeiras-Floriano on June 2, 1993 . The Archbishop of Teresina , Miguel Fenelon Câmara Filho , gave him episcopal ordination on August 14 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Paulo Eduardo Andrade Ponte , Archbishop of São Luís do Maranhão , and Carmelo Cassati MSC, Archbishop of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie-Nazareth . As a motto he chose SURSUM CORDA .

On May 2, 2001, he was appointed Bishop of Crato .

Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on December 28, 2016 for health reasons.
