Aultbea ( Scottish Gaelic An t-Allt Beithe ) is a small town in the Scottish Council Area Highland on the A832 . The village is located on the shores of Loch Ewe , which connects it directly to the open sea, opposite the Isle of Ewe . Poolewe is about 13 km south, Ullapool about 22 km east.

During the two world wars, Aultbea was used as a sheltered harbor; in World War II were there Arctic convoys of World War II for the crossing into the Soviet Union by the Arctic Ocean together. Since the end of the war, the navy has been using the port to refuel their ships.

Aultbea has been the location of the small Loch Ewe distillery since 2004 .
