Auneau is a village and a former French commune with 4,670 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Eure-et-Loir in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belonged to the Arrondissement of Chartres and was the administrative seat of the canton of Auneau .

With effect from January 1, 2016, the previous municipalities of Auneau and Bleury-Saint-Symphorien were merged to form a Commune nouvelle called Auneau-Bleury-Saint-Symphorien and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Auneau.

Twin cities

Güglingen in the Heilbronn district ( Baden-Württemberg ) has been Auneau's twin town since April 28, 2007 .

Attractions

  • Parc des félins d'Auneau , opened in 1998 and transferred to Seine-et-Marne in September 2006. It is a station for rearing big cats that was located in the park of the castle of Auneau.
