Autaugaville is a place in Autauga County in the US state of Alabama .

history
The first settlers reached the area in 1820 and built a sawmill and a flour mill. In 1849 a cotton mill was built, with the construction of which houses and apartments for the workers were created, which significantly expanded the city. It experienced further growth when numerous residents of nearby Vernon fled the flood there and settled in Autaugaville. In 1851 351 people lived here.
In 1853 a fire destroyed the city center. The local newspaper Autaugaville Citizen appeared between 1853 and 1873 . The city's growth was slowed by the civil war and it lost its importance as a regional economic center. Of the numerous sawmills, only one remained, which was also given up in the 1930s.
One of the buildings on the site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of June 29, 2019), the Lassiter House .
