The Autoput Niš – Merdare is a planned Serbian motorway that starts at Niš and ends at the Kosovar border at Merdare . The highway is a section of the former Yugoslav Brotherhood and Unity Highway and thus part of the Pan-European Transport Corridor X . The Niš – Merdare motorway has so far no official signage. The Serbian Minister for Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlović announced in spring 2017 that the project documents would be ready by summer 2017, so that construction of the 77-kilometer section from Niš to Merdare could have started in 2018. In May 2018, Mihajlović announced that the construction of a first section with a length of 39 kilometers would not start until 2019.
