Ava Bailey Ohlgren (born January 31, 1988 in Morganton , North Carolina ) is an American swimmer.

Life

She was born to Kurt and Terri Ohlgren and has two siblings with Kathryn and Derek. Together with them, she grew up in Northville , Michigan . There she attended high school and swam for the Bulldog Aquatic Club in her teens. She attracted attention early on with her remarkable sporting achievements, became a two-time US schoolmaster and was subsequently named Michigan High School Swimmer of the Year. Later, enrolled them at Auburn University in the US state of Alabama for a study of Sports Science and Pre-Physical Therapy .

Over the years, Ohlgren has won various medals in competitions run by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC). However, she celebrated her greatest successes on the international stage. They could at the Pan American Games in 2007 in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro secure two gold medals. Two years later, she dominated the competition at the Summer Universiade in Belgrade and celebrated a total of five wins - two in individual races and three in the relay. This made her one of the most successful athletes at the Universiade and the record holder of her university's title.

After graduating with a grade point average of 3.2 / 4.0, Ohlgren moved to Nashville , Tennessee . She is no longer active in competitive swimming.
