Aziz Lahbabi (born February 3, 1991 in Khénifra ) is a Moroccan long-distance runner .

Athletic career

Aziz Lahbabi gained his first international experience in 2010 at the Junior World Championships in Moncton , where he won the bronze medal in the 5000 meter run in 13: 28.92 minutes . At the African Cross Country Championships in Cape Town in 2011 , he came 13th and secured the bronze medal behind Kenya and Ethiopia in the team ranking, but was subsequently tested positive for the banned substance methylhexanamine and was then banned for one year. The following year he qualified for the Olympic Games in London , but retired there with 13: 47.57 min in the preliminary round . In 2014, 2015 and 2018 Bouqantar was the Moroccan champion in the 5000 meter run. In 2013, at the Mediterranean Games in Mersin , he won the silver medal in the 10,000-meter run behind the Turk Polat Kemboi Arıkan in 28: 55.24 minutes and secured the bronze medal in 13: 40.33 minutes behind the Algiers Rabah Aboud and over 5000 meters his compatriot Othmane el-Goumri . Over 5000 meters he also qualified for the World Championships in Moscow , where he did not reach the final with 13: 37.75 min. Since 2014 Lahbabi has been concentrating more on road running and this year secured the title at the Ostia half marathon in 59:25 minutes. In 2015 he won the Casablanca half marathon in 1:02:21 h and in 2017 he finished third in the Doha half marathon with 1:03:55 h and in the 2018 Agadír half marathon with 1:03:13 h.

In 2013 Lahbabi became the Moroccan champion in the 5000 meter run.
