Benjamin Joseph Manaly Novak (born July 31, 1979 in Newton , Massachusetts ) is an American actor , screenwriter , stand-up comedian and author .

Life

BJ Novak grew up in Newton , Massachusetts . His brother, Jesse Novak, is a composer of electronic music . He used to be a member of the comedy group Olde English . His younger brother, Lev, gives B. Js. earlier high school took a comedy class. His father, William Novak, is a ghostwriter and co-author of The Big Book of Jewish Humor .

He attended Newton South High School with John Krasinski , who later played with him in The Office . During his time in high school, he wrote a satire starring Krasinski in a leading role.

He later attended Harvard University , where he graduated with honors in English and Spanish literature. During his student days he wrote for The Harvard Lampoon .

After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles in 2001 , where he appeared as a comedian . He had his first appearance on October 10, 2001 in the "Hollywood Youth Hostel". He quickly made a name for himself in clubs like Improv and was voted one of the "Ten Comedians To Watch" by the industry journal Variety in 2003.

He wrote two episodes of the short-lived Raising Dad series for The WB and appeared on Comedy Central's Premium Blend series and Late Night with Conan O'Brien . He also hosted the MTV series Punk'd .

From 2005 to 2013 he was a writer and actor in the US version of The Office . As a result, he received an Emmy nomination in 2007 and 2008 in the “Outstanding Comedy Series” category. He was already on screen in the films Oh dear, you happy ones , The love in me and The first time to see it. In 2009 he played the role of PFC Smithson Utivich in the film Inglourious Basterds .

In February 2014 his book One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories was published , which is called Cornflakes with Johnny Depp : Stories and Other Stories in German and was published in August 2014.

In 2018 he published the children's book The Book with No Pictures.
